The recovery from the abuse
of drugs and alcohol is a lifelong process. It involves much more
than learning about addiction and recovery, how to be self
supporting and productive. It also involves learning how to give
back and how to help others and contribute to the community.
One of the ways that clients at New Directions learn about
giving is through community service. New Directions clients donate
thousands of hours of time to serve other community projects in
of the organizations that we assist during the year include: March
of Dimes, Junior Aid of Stockton, Stockton Beautiful, California
State University, Family Reading Program
Helping others has become a tradition at New Directions. The
clients learn that they do have something to offer. They are paid
with appreciation and gratitude. For some, it is the first time
they have experienced the satisfaction that helping others brings.
